September 10, 2009At 7:10 PM, President, Mike Bryant, called the September meeting of
Region 5 B.A.S.S. Federation Nation to order at Ryan’s Restaurant in Martinsville,
VA. Jo Ann Holland read the Secretary and Treasurer’s report of the May
meeting and was unanimously approved by members present. A role call was taken for confirmation of attendance. Those present were: ü

Reel Bassmasters Old Business: The State Website has posted a current calendar and benefits available
to all members. It can be located at the following web address: www.vafederationnation.com. Please check calendar before each event for
updates and/or changes. Our BASS Federation Nation quarterly magazine, Hook Set, is still in need of ads and sponsors. Contact Mike Bryant for prices and availability. Each club was asked to pay $25 towards the event-a small fee to provide for the future of Bass fishing in our Region. All Clubs have now paid and are up to date. The Fall Classic will be held on Kerr Lake, the date is October 24-25. The town of Clarksville has once again donated $1000 for a raffle. Tickets will be sold Thursday-Sunday. The cost will be 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. Once qualified, Mike will get packets out to members. The Adam and Eve will now be held 9/12 from 7am-12pm,
leaving from Penhook and a cook-out will be held immediately after weigh-in. Region
to provide meats and others are asked to bring a covered dish. Entry fees have
been changed to $50 due to economic restraints. New Business: Mike congratulated Mark Cooper, Ken Lackey and Mark Winn for making the
State Team. A motion wad made and passed unanimously to make the 09/19/2009 Region
Tournament a 5 fish limit due so many other activities taking place on the same
day. The entry fee for the Fall Classic for Region 5 this year will be $2,100
and will be paid the third week in September. Mike noted that the State BFN VA is in need of
a Conservation Director as well as an Editor for Hook Set—anyone interested in
either position, please notify him. Mike and Pam still need active email addresses
for all members, please provide in the next three weeks. Their email addresses
can be found on the Region 5 Web site. The Children’s Miracle Network Tournament will
be held at Smith Mountain Lake Parkway Marina on 10/4/2009. Auction items are
needed, if you should have a donation, please contact Pam Bryant. **A vote was taken on the Board recommendation that State dues go to $50
to eliminate all fund raisers, it was approved, but the motion was made and
approved for the dues to be paid by 01/31/2010 after the holidays and a
different time from National dues. **Vote passed: 2 members per Region (odd years) shall work the Mr. BASS
tournament//2 members per Region (even years) shall work the Fall Classic
tournament and 2 members per Region shall work the Six-Man Team Tournament each
year. State by-law and tournament rules will be changed accordingly. The 2010 Calendar of events is now on the web. Sid Ryan has been nominated as the 2010 State
Vice-President. It has been approved by the Board that State
will pay for the Web Site to remain up and running in 2010. Mike asked that if anyone in the Region has an
accident or illness, please let him know so a card can be sent. Youth Report: No report The next State board meeting will be held 11/15/2009 at the
