At 7:10 PM, President, Mike Bryant, called the January meeting of Region 5 B.A.S.S. Federation Nation to order at Ryan’s Steak House in Danville, VA.

 

Jo Ann Holland, read the Secretary and Treasurer’s report of the November meeting and was unanimously approved by members present.

 

A role call was taken for confirmation of attendance.  Those present were:

Old Business: 

 

The State Website has posted a current calendar and benefits available to all members. It can be located at the following web address: www.vafederationnation.com.  Please check calendar before each event for updates and/or changes.

 

Our BASS Federation Nation quarterly magazine, Hook Set, is still in need of ads and sponsors. Contact Mike Bryant for prices and availability.

 

As a follow up from last meeting, it was announced that the next regular meting will be held on 5/14 (which is the Region’s regular meeting date) at the Lamplighter Restaurant in Clarksville at 7:00 PM.

 

A reminder to all Clubs, you MUST have a minimum participation of at least 5 Region Tournaments (any combination) to qualify for the State events.

 

Boat Captains are still needed for the Youth events as follows:

• 3/29—Smith Mountain Lake             7am-1pm            6 needed
• 4/18 and 4/19 Claytor State JSQ                  7am-1pm            3 needed
• 4/25—Philpott Lake                             7am-1pm            6 needed

 

Notice: The Dam Ramp is unavailable for the previously scheduled Philpott tournament-the Region Tournament will be held on Smith Mountain Lake coming out of Penhook. The date is 4/18/09 and the time will be 7am to 4pm.

 

A State Open Fundraiser will be hoed on 3/14/2009 at Buggs Island—a flyer was given to each Club President.

 

Reminder: Entry forms for Mr. BASS and the Six Man Team tournament are due 30 days before the tournament dates or there will be a $10 late fee to register. Make your reservations early and call Pam Bryant to register.

 

 

New Business:

Information for Mr. BASS and the Six Man Team Tournaments were handed out at the meeting.

 

If your club is having a Tournament and your club would like for it to be posted on the web, send it to Mike and he will see that is posted.

 

All regions were asked to vote on a change in the tournaments for state qualifiers.  A vote was taken, and passed at 100% that the buy-ins can fish and win cash, but not to qualify for the State Team.

The next State board meeting will be 03/15/2009 at Lamplighter in Clarksville.

 

The next Region meeting will be at the Lamplighter in Clarksville—May 14^th, 2009!
